Whacking Woody Weeds - Bathurst Regional Council
Alliance funding 2021
Central West Councils Environment & Waterways Alliance has funded a range of projects for our Member Councils in 2021 that will contribute to positive environmental outcomes across our region. Grant funds of up to a maximum of $5,000 has been distributed to Councils who were able to demonstrate matched funds for environmental projects within their 2021-22 budgets and operational plans.
Funding under this round was specifically for on-ground works and not projects that are predominantly based on planning, reporting or assessment.
Whacking woody weeds - bathurst Regional Council
The Whacking Woody Weeds project will remove invasive tree and shrub species from 10,000 square metres of riparian land on the tributary headwaters of Jordan Creek, within the remnant and critically endangered grassy box-gum woodland of Blayney Road Common.
This project will remove woody weeds including elm, willow, firethorn, cotoneaster and pine within the riparian corridor. This will increase the proportion of native vegetation and facilitate native vegetation recruitment for the benefit of woodland birds. The works relate directly to actions from the Blayney Road Common Plan of Management.
Further information will be added to this page as the project proceeds.
