Blayney Shire Cemeteries
RESOURCES | Blayney Rural Cemeteries Plan & works guide
Blayney Shire Council is responsible for the management of all cemeteries with the Blayney Local Government Area. Many of the rural cemeteries were cleared from within bushland areas and have retained quality native vegetation. Ongoing management of these cemeteries has been undertaken by Brian Parker - Blayney Shire Council’s Parks Supervisor - since 1997.
Brian has more than 20 years of experience in managing these cemeteries, both as active cemeteries, and to support their conservation value. To ensure that Brian’s knowledge and passion for these important areas continues long into the future, the Alliance provided funding for the Blayney Shire Council Cemeteries Management Plan. This document was completed by Rachael Young Consulting and captures Brian’s knowledge and management practices.
To support the implementation of the plan in the field, a more concise Cemeteries Works Guide was developed. This booklet is designed to be able to sit in the glove box of Council vehicles and is a summary of the key management activities to be undertaken at each cemetery. The booklet was again funded by the Alliance and is based directly from the Blayney Shire Council Cemeteries Management Plan.
