The Central West Councils Environment & Waterways Alliance (Alliance) is a partnership of 18 Councils across the Central West of New South Wales, broadly based on the Central Tablelands and Central West Local Land Services regions, with reach beyond this region. The Alliance exists to improve environmental outcomes across the region.
The Alliance has operated under a 5 Year Plan that was developed to guide the direction and actions of the Alliance in the short to medium term, with annual reviews to ensure that the document remained current and in keeping with the requirements of the member Councils.
As the Alliance was formerly the primary means of engagement with Local Government for Central Tablelands and Central West Local Land Services, the Strategies and Actions within the 5 Year Plan were developed in consultation with the member Councils and aligned to the Local Land Services Strategies, as contained within the State Strategic Plan.
However, since 2019 Local Land Services have no longer provided financial or strategic support to the Alliance and this is to be reflected in both the new Strategic and Operational Plans that are to be adopted for the 2021/22 financial year.
